Love Knot Blankets
As one of our Works of Mercy this year we made "love knot blankets" to give to the homeless shelters. Not only did the children and teens learn how to make a fleece blanket but others were warmed by their care and love.

Measuring and preparing the blankets.

Pinning the two pieces of fleece together

Cutting and tying the blankets

Second graders make a "love knot" pillow to go with their blanket.

After stuffing the pillow, it needs to be tied!

The scissors are BIG for little hands!

It's Saturday morning
and we are ready to work on our "Love Knot" blankets!

Tying knots is a challenge for first graders!

First we cut out a 6 inch square on each corner.

Then we cut strips 1 1/2 inches wide
to tie the front piece of fleece to the back piece.

Then we begin tying knots!

The masking tape is a helpful guide as we cut our strips.
It is 6 inches from the edge of the fabric.

A small remnant can make a matching pillow.

Our pillow is stuffed and ready to share with the needy.

Our "Love Knot" blankets are ready to be given to the shelters.

May our "Love Knot" blankets,
the work of our hands during this Lenten season,
warm those who receive them
and surround them with love and care!
